Texas Quail Hunts
Hunt wild Texas quail in the beautiful Rolling Plains region of Texas on the 165,000 acre Pitchfork Ranch. Our quail numbers are excellent due to the outstanding habitat available in our area. The Pitchfork Ranch has the right mixture of weed growth, insects, cover, and range management necessary to consistently produce quality wild quail hunting.
Quail are found over the entire ranch. Each group of hunters and their guide will have exclusive access to unpressured pastures that are typically 5000+ acres in size. You will not hunt "old" ground and will probably never see another quail hunter on the hunting property (except back at the lodge). We rotate quail hunting locations regularly to preserve the unpressured nature of our habitat. Lodging and meals are provided at the hunting lodge located on the ranch. Our new hunting lodge is very well equipped with large community room, satellite TV, DSL wireless Internet, phone, full size refrigerator, pool table, and six bedrooms with private showers and bathrooms. We provide all linens, pillows, and towels. At the cookhouse our full time cook prepares all-you-can eat ranch style meals with plenty of homemade cherry, apple, pumpkin, and pecan pies plus a wide variety of cookies and snacks. Texas Whitetail Hunts
One hunter per guide. There are no additional guide or trophy fees.
Pursue the elusive trophy whitetail buck in terrain including dense scrub oak thickets, river bottoms, rugged canyons, crop fields, and food plots. You and your guide will have exclusive access to several thousand acres of unpressured trophy buck country during the rut. We only harvest 20 bucks off of ranch each season. We do require that all bucks taken gross at least 130 B&C. Our average the 2005-06 season was 150 B&C and the 2004-05 season was 155 B&C. Our largest buck to date grossed 186 typical B&C points. This means that we are after mature bucks at least 4.5 years old with a "true" inside spread of 20" and at least 8 high quality points. The Pitchfork Ranch sports a near 1-to-1 buck-to-doe ratio. The rut normally runs from mid November through mid December. Mature bucks can weigh well over 200 pounds. Our bucks have the nutrition available through local forage to produce very good racks. We use no protein feeders or high fences. These are real hunts.
Texas Mule Deer Hunts
Pursue the trophy mule deer buck in rugged canyon and river country. Several of the state's top mule deer are taken in this region. You and your guide will have exclusive access to at least 30,000 acres of prime hunting territory. We will spot and stalk these monster mulies. These hunts require lots of hiking in very rugged country. Therefore, we strongly encourage our hunters to be physically fit for these hunts. Guide, lodging, meals, ranch transportation, and basic game preparation and refrigeration are included as well as midday snacks and soft drinks.
Texas Turkey Hunts
Hunt large flocks of Rio Grande turkeys in food plots, pastures, and around river bottoms in rugged canyon country. Your group and guide will have exclusive access to large sections of terrain. The 1999 spring season was the first that turkey hunting had been allowed on the 165,000-acre Pitchfork Ranch in the 123 year history of the ranch. The Pitchfork Ranch has a large population of mature gobblers spread over most of the ranch. Hunters enjoy the beautiful scenery that is part of our wild turkey habitat. The unpressured nature of our wildlife provides a truly unique outdoors experience for all of our guests. We have very high success rates for bowhunters as well as shotgunners. Two day hunt includes three nights lodging.
Texas Hog Hunts
Hunt the elusive wild boar in rugged pastures, food plots, and river bottoms. Some of the hogs have strong genetic ties to the Russian boar. Our hogs are big, mean, and usually difficult to hunt. We have several groups of hogs spread over the entire 165,000-acre Pitchfork Ranch. Lodging and meals are provided on multi-day hunts. No closed season so you may book your hunt for any time throughout the year.
Texas Dove Hunts
Hunt wild hogs in the morning and mourning doves in the afternoon on this exciting full service combo hunt on the 165,000-acre Pitchfork Ranch near Guthrie, Texas. Action for both hogs and dove can be fast and furious at times. A truly fun hunt for family and corporate groups of up to 10 hunters. Non-hunting guests are welcome at the rate of $100 per guest per day. Lodging and meals are included on multi-day hunts. Ranch transportation and game cleaning are also part of the hunting package.
