Box L Ranch in Chadron, NE

The Box L Ranch is famous for the western tradition it has protected since it was homesteaded in 1884 by the same family that owns it today.

We specialize in a Western experience. The whitetail and mule deer hunting are great, but the spring and fall Merriam's turkey hunting is outstanding. Antelope hunting is also available.

Much of the deer hunting is done from tree stands, natural blinds and canyon overlooks.  We have found that the greatest success and the greatest enjoyment comes from allowing the deer to go about their natural movements and watching trails, scrapes and river crossings. All hunting is done on privately owned or leased land and is closely controlled.

Wild turkeys on the ranch usually are found in large flocks consisting of adult females and their young. Roost sites are often used for long periods and experienced hunters should look for concentrations of droppings, upper tree limbs without foliage and broken upper branches and limbs.

We limit our buffalo hunts to 1 or 2 each year. This is a special opportunity to hunt outstanding buffalo bulls. We hunt only bulls that are at least 4 years old. The best time for this hunt is January through February as there is no set “season” scheduled.
