Wild Turkey Stir Fry
by Chris Larsen
Hunting wild turkeys is one of the most challenging of outdoor pursuits. The moment the bird hits the table could be my favorite part of hunting turkeys. Wild turkeys are probably the tastiest wild game meat I’ve ever tried. If you like plucking birds for the roasting pan, that’s certainly a great way to enjoy your bird. Personally, I like using the meat in other dishes. My favorite wild turkey recipes include wild turkey fajitas, Cajun wild turkey pasta, and wild turkey stir fry. Here’s my recipe for wild turkey stir fry.
Wild Turkey Stir Fry
Ingredients
8 green onions chopped
2 bell peppers (multicolored, sliced)
1 large yellow onion(sliced)
½ cup sliced mushrooms
½ cup of your favorite stir fry sauce
Soy Sauce
1 lb. wild turkey breast (sliced in bite size chunks)
2 cups instant white rice
In a skillet, combine 2 tbsp. soy sauce, turkey breast, and green onion until turkey is cooked through. Add all other ingredients except rice and simmer, stirring occasionally. In a separate pan, begin cooking ric per directions on box. The rice should take a total of 10-12 minutes. Serve stir fry mixture on a bed of rice and garnish with an egg roll. Add additional soy sauce to taste.
This is a simple meal that can be prepared and completed in less than 30 minutes. Perfect for any weeknight or even a special occasion. Wild turkey is great for introducing newcomers to wild game. There really isn’t a lot of difference in the meat of a wild bird compared to a farm raised turkey. If you like stir fry, this recipe will be a big hit.
