Turkeys prefer foraging on the edge of small clearings in wooded areas. SO, when choosing a location for a food plot for turkeys, you want to be near a wooded area. Turkeys require water every day and a water source should be no more than a mile away.
If you're a wild turkey hunter, you may want to forego hunting public- or permitted-private land like a farm, and create your own turkey habitat on land that you own.
Is it legal/ethical? There is some debate on whether a food plot is considered baiting or not. My feelings are that you must decide for yourself. I personally feel that whichever way you lean, I’m okay with doing it.
