GFP Harvest Surveys Seek Information from Hunters

PIERRE, S.D.—Selected hunters who supply information about their hunting seasons will be helping the S.D. Game, Fish and Parks Department develop management strategies for next year’s seasons.

The department is mailing survey cards to a limited number of hunters, asking them to please fill out and return the survey. Completed surveys are needed regardless of whether or not a recipient hunted and regardless of whether or not they were successful at harvesting a game animal.

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service today proposed continuation of liberal hunting regulations for the upcoming 2007-2008 late waterfowl seasons due to improved habitat conditions and waterfowl population estimates. Duck hunting season lengths will be 60 days in both the Atlantic and Mississippi Flyways, 74 days in the Central Flyway, and 107 days in the Pacific Flyway.
