PIERRE, S.D.-In addition to their regular business, Game, Fish and Parks Commissioners will get a history lesson when they conduct their August meeting at Fort Sisseton Historic State Park. The commission's agenda for the one-day meeting on Aug. 7 includes a tour of the park, located 10 miles southwest of Lake City.

A public hearing is set for 2 p.m. During that time the commission will take comments on the proposed regulations for the state's waterfowl hunting seasons as well as comments on updated regulations for the transportation and possession of game and fish. Also on the agenda as information items are the Rapid City office/outdoor education site and the department's draft plan for land acquisition.

A meeting agenda and the proposals that are up for public comment can be accessed at the GFP Web site at http://www.sdgfp.info/Commission/Meetings.htm. Citizens who wish to provide written comments to the commission prior to the hearing can do so up until 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 6. Comments should be mailed to Game, Fish and Parks Commission, 523 E. Capitol Ave., Pierre, SD 57501 or e-mailed to wildinfo@state.sd.us.

Comments must include the sender's full name and address in order to become part of the public record. Comments may also be presented in person at the public hearing at Fort Sisseton.

It is commission policy to set aside time during each monthly meeting for public comment on items that may not be on the agenda.
