Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (ADCNR) Commissioner M. Barnett Lawley signed an emergency regulation Tuesday, December 18, 2007 – 220-2-.22-.161ER – pertaining to Wildlife Management Areas (WMAs) and Sanctuaries Established.

This emergency action was taken in order to maximize hunting opportunities for various user groups hunting in the Lauderdale WMA.

The regulation, effective Tuesday, December 18, 2007, modifies the boundaries of the Lauderdale Wildlife Management Area to add an additional 1,367 acres.

The land was procured cooperatively by Alabama’s Forever Wild Land Trust Program, the ADCNR Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries Division, and the Alabama chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation.

The Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources promotes wise stewardship, management and enjoyment of Alabama’s natural resources through five divisions: Marine Police, Marine Resources, State Lands, State Parks, and Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries.
