The USDA Forest Service and USDI Bureau of Land Management jointly recognized the National Wild Turkey Federation during the 73rd North American Wildlife and Natural Resources Conference in Phoenix, Ariz.
The award was presented by Sally Collins, associate chief of USDA Forest Service and Jim Caswell, director of the USDI Bureau of Land Management.
The joint Conservation Leadership Partner Award honors an organization for their outstanding leadership in developing and implementing conservation programs and activities that benefit fish, wildlife and/or native plants on public lands.
Dr. James Earl Kennamer, senior vice president for conservation programs, accepted the award on behalf on the NWTFs more than 500,000 members.
"We have a longtime and cherished partnership with both of these agencies," said Kennamer during the ceremony. "Our volunteers contribute a tremendous amount of time and money for conservation projects on the ground and are to be commended for their dedication. Without their efforts, none of this would be possible. I accept this award for all of NWTF's volunteers."
Partnerships between the NWTF, the Forest Service and the BLM have resulted in more hunting opportunities and increased wildlife habitat across the nation.
"We're proud of our partnership and all that we've accomplished with the both agencies," said Kennamer. "By continuing this commitment, our 2,350 NWTF chapters can continue to make big things happen on the acres that make up our national lands, which are cherished by hunters and outdoorsmen and women nationwide." |
