On Aug. 15 and 16, the Steel Challenge World Speedshooting Championships will be offering first-time shooters a free introduction to shooting and firearm safety. Several First Shots® seminars will be held each day starting at 9 a.m. Visitors to the range in Piru will have an opportunity to learn from professional instructors firearm safety and the basics of how to get started in handgun shooting. Afterward, seminar participants will be able to walk the competition course and see some of the world's fastest shooters as they compete for the world speed shooting title.

The Department of Fish and Game’s (DFG) Advanced Hunter Education will offer a bear hunting clinic for the first time beginning on March 1. The workshop will be held at the Ono Range in Shasta County, 15 miles west of Redding, and run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Sacramento - The Department of Fish and Game (DFG) today announced that a year-long poaching investigation, dubbed Operation Bear Conduit, has resulted in the arrests of four people. The four individuals were charged with conspiracy to operate as hunting guides without valid guide licenses.
