Have you ever thought about what goes into a deer hunt? While studying the philosophies of anti-hunters I came about some of their ideas on how easy it is to just go out in the woods and kill a deer. It would seem the author of this trash was convinced, semi-automatic weapons and telescopic sights made hunting so unfair that it made the hunter invincible at 400 yards. Truthfully I never killed a deer at 400 yards; however I did in fact get one at three hundred yards. This was one out of 134 deer over a span of a middle age lifetime.

There are bills being attempted by anti hunters in several states to raise the legal hunting age to 16 before a youth may take to the field. It’s only a matter of time before it happens in this state. “ Balderdash,” is the closest word I can get away with here,

Most are good folks that made a mistake, paid a small fine similar to a speeding ticket and go on about their business. Others never get the idea and continue, with that “I’m above the law” attitude that sometimes inspires the game wardens to get the idea that the outdoorsmen on the whole, are the enemy.

After the legalization of the crossbow in Louisiana, the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries responds in pure ignorance.

“Can you believe this?” I try to be a strict adherer to game and fish laws, I read and interpret every word so I personally don’t make a mistake. This is probably due to the fact that a large part of my Army career in the Military Police was being a Game Warden on military posts including Fort Richardson Alaska, Fort Sill Oklahoma, Fort Ord and Hunter Ligget in California and Fort Chaffee Arkansas. Needless to say I became very familiar with game and fish laws and ethics. Over the years I developed a sense of fairness and understanding when it comes to why things are done in the world of game and fish laws. The by word is compromise, while trying to please the grass roots hunters that do in fact stir up a lot of unnecessary problems stemming from many reasons to include special interest and just plain selfishness.
