Josh "Rooney" Dickerson started his outdoor experiences as a young buck in SW Michigan. Early on, he followed in his dad and brother’s path hunting squirrel, rabbit, pheasant and anything else that was tasty in the pot. At age 12, he got his first compound bow and started deer hunting with the help of a family friend that was big into archery. They helped him build his first tree stand and from that stand he got his first experiences with buck fever. As time progressed, Rooney was spending a lot of time in the woods chasing whitetails while also still enjoying small game and bird hunting.
His passion for waterfowling came many years later. Late in the ‘90s, his friend invited him on their annual family hunt in SD chasing the mallard migration. He had experienced some Michigan waterfowling action periodically throughout the years prior to this but nothing like being in the heart of the Central Flyway. That first big flock of greenheads had his head shifting from whitetails to waterfowl. In 2009, Rooney moved from Michigan to Oklahoma following a new job and found himself right in the heart of the southern Central Flyway right out his back door. Today, he enjoys taking his whole family and as many friends that would like to join him out waterfowling and puts it all on film. Josh is also on the prostaff at First Light Gear.
