Caney Bottom Lodge is Arkansas’ premier hunting resort. Our professional hunting guide service specializes in wing shooting adventures and fishing trips. Here you experience the hunt of a lifetime. There are a whole host of qualities that make your time at Caney Bottom Lodge a truly memorable hunting experience. We have done extensive research in order to make our hunts rival the best anywhere across the country. The staff at Caney Bottom Lodge has spent countless hours learning from biologists and other consultants in order to provide the best hunting environment for our hunters. We took what they taught us and fine-tuned it. Now the only factor we cannot control is the weather. Caney Bottom Lodge has taken our 3600-acre farm from agricultural farming to wildlife habitat farming. We have also worked closely with Ducks Unlimited to build the most effective habitat for attracting and holding thousands of ducks from early November to mid-March.
In the spring of 2004, DU built six shallow water areas on our farm that turned out to be very productive in the following season. In the fall of 2004, we added a 143-acre lake that has been phenomenal for our duck numbers. We have been able to sit in the lodge and watch literally hundreds of ducks within 200 yards of the front door. Large rolling fields provide the setting for our upland bird hunts. By researching with various agencies, we have learned how to reestablish an exceptionally productive natural upland bird habitat. We have four hunting fields that allow four men in each field. Like we said – no longer agriculture farming but wildlife habitat farming.
Mother nature took away our native birds many years ago, so at Caney Bottom Lodge we haPhoto Of Upland Game Bird Huntingve sought out the best way to provide only the wildest birds in order to give you an experience that is incomparable to other bird resorts. Our birds often flush just from the sight of our gundogs. Our pheasant are imported from Kansas from a reputable producer that has spent many hours developing true wild birds – not fat pen-raised birds. We tried some of those overweight birds, but they just could not perform up to level of the birds we get now. Our quail are imported from Louisiana and present a formidable shooting challenge. Plugged shotguns are not required on our resort, but it is not very often that you get more than two shots.
Once we established this excellent habitat, we knew it would never be a success without a trained staff to take care of our most important aspect – the client. At Caney Bottom Lodge we have built a professional staff ready to serve your every need. Our crew of four fulltime guides and over eight support staff are here to take your experience to a level that most outfitters overlook. These guides, who already have several years of hunting experience, spend many hours scouting before your arrival so that they know which blind has the most action. After the hunt, our staff cleans your birds and packages them so that they are ready to go in your freezer or on your grill. But even though our staff is a group of highly trained professionals, they are still good ole’ country boys that just like to sit around the lodge in the evening exchanging hunting stories and telling jokes.
The true stars of our hunting experience are our hunting dogs. We have worked hard to keep only the best huntingBird Dogs On Point dogs that love to please the people that they are hunting for. Our kennel has over twelve dogs and is being added to daily. Caney Bottom Lodge has Labrador Retrievers, English Pointers, Brittany Spaniels, and German Shorthairs. Our dogs have had hundreds of birds shot over them, and we have received much praise from our clients about their ability.
