About Me
John Simeone, a native of the Ozark Mountains of Arkansas, started his outdoor training when many would be watching Bugs Bunny on TV and sucking on a Popsicle. His father and other mentors, professors and even a Cherokee medicine man handed down some of the most unique outdoor knowledge that could have been bestowed on him.
A retired Army MP and Police investigator, John has authored many police manuals and articles concerning police investigative techniques, standard operating procedures, including “The Black Book of Pretext” for private investigators and the Awards Manuel for Police and Firefighters. In the Sports world John is World class in Two Sports. He is the former Chief Director of the Armed Forces Karate Association, a columnist in Black Belt Magazine, and authored the tournament rules for sport karate for the military. A world class target shooter, John invented the new shooting sport “Top Gun Challenge” billed as the most difficult rifle match in the world, now a major project of TNUSA in Louisiana.
After being drafted out of college where he was a forestry student, John was a Federal Game warden with the Army in 4 states including Alaska. His firearm and hunting knowledge is well known, as he is the volunteer Shooting Sports Director for Ft. Polk Louisiana, an award winning outdoor columnist with the Louisiana Outdoor Writers Association, and the past Louisiana State director for Ted Nugent's United Sportsmen of America. His recent endeavor, to properly train, new hunters, both young and old alike has been documented in his popular articles “Uncle John’s Outdoors” which explores the hidden social values of an upraising in the Sportsmen’s Paradise.
John was instrumental in the legalization of the crossbow when he wrote a fact finding mission for Senator John Smith of Vernon parish, which led to the crossbow inclusion for all hunters in 2008. Most recently John took up the cause of handicapped hunters with “The Way Outfitters” as their outdoor writer. Now featured in Ted Nugent's Adventure Outdoors Magazine, Archery Magazine, Bayou Outdoors Magazine, Cross Bow Connection Magazine, Horizontal Bow Hunter Magazine, Louisiana Road Trips Magazine, Bayou Outdoor Adventure Forum and the Leesville Daily Leader, John always tells it like it is, setting a good example for the young outdoorsmen and stings into submission idiots, slob hunters and poachers.
