With all the fooding in the Midwest this year I would expect a bumper crop of ducks this fall.  Is that a safe bet?  It seems like there are new pot holes everywhere I look and lots of flooded timber.  I would think this would be great for duck breeding.  Is this true?

According to the South Dakota Department Of Fish and Game "Ponds produce breeding space and the food ducks need for reproduction" but ducks don't nest in grass so they also need good cover near the water for nesting.

Ok, I'll show my ignorance on this one.  Wouldn't the additional number of potholes and rest-stops make it more difficult to hunt waterfowl this year.  The higher number of spots along with the increased area of the existing wetlands makes for more places for birds to land so they aren't as concentrated.  Couple this with most of the wet areas are in grassy areas providing little to no cover.  I'm new to this, so I could be way off.  Can someone help?

I'm no expert on the subject but I did read the ducks nest in the grass not on the water so flooding in all the grass land surrounding the water can't be a good thing during the nesting season.
