Here is a big Wisconsin Bruiser taken with a gun near Ladysmith Wisconsin opening day of gun season 2004. Cold! Score- No idea but it made me smile.

Biggest for me was killed out behind the house during the rut several years back with my TC smokepole, 8 pts green scored 148 7/8" Had never seen this deer, only "that he was their and he was big..... He made "one mistake" ,he fell in love
Not too bad for a Va. deer! |

| I nailed a 11 pointer 4 years ago. It was a long shot and honestly I couldn't tell how big he was until I got up on him. I was thinking a nice 8 through the scope. I never scored him but if I had to guess I would say 130 class |

I've shot quite a few "nice eatin" deer, and a 200lb field dressed WNY deer that scored a 116. Not a real big rack, but it was with a recurve at 20 yards. Got one lung direct hit, clipped the other. He made it 1oo yoards, of couse down the ravine! I'm working on a European mount how to section for the site, you will see the deers rack. |

Archer,
I always wanted to try a recurve hunt. Do I need to break the bank to buy a recurve or are there some low cost alternatives for my first recurve bow? |

No need to break the bank for a recurve bow, I actually got mine from ebay for cheap! Not recommended however, I got lucky and got a good bow. The best way to find a bow is to go to a traditional archery shoot. You can pick up good equipment and even make your own at some shoots. |

You should look for quality construction, not a production line model. Like a car, buy a used recurve so that you don't pay that depreciation money upfront. The bow should not be warped, cracked, and should be a draw weight that you can handle comfortably. A lot of guys have torn their arms up trying to shoot too much bow. A 40-50# draw weight is avaerage for hunting. A 50# recurve will kill any North American game species. Granted, you'll want to hit a moose just right. I paid $120 for my Bear recurve, a great bow for the money. |

13 point, scored 143 5/8........Dec 16, 2006 Stewart County,Tennessee.
It was a foggy morning, and I had been seeing this deer and actually missed 2 weeks prior in some real thick oak sapplings, the bullt hit a small tree and missed the deer.
The next time, I put out some Tinks 69, and started up a tree with my climber when I heard a branch snap.
This time he was within feet of my stand when I finally got a good shot. It was the first morning I climbed this tree, I actually moved it 50 yards or so closer to his trail than I had normally hunted. It was a good decision on a foggy morning.
Im looking forward to hunting Kentucky and searching for some nice Bucks! |

| I'd take a 13 point 143 any day. I've heard of many a deer falling to Tinks 69. Good luck in KY! Do you have a place to hunt lined up or are you scouting for hunting locations still? |

I have a few spots offered to me already, and its a good start! I will keep looking as always but a Tobacco farmer gave me permission and so did another man from my Brother In Laws Church. Around 5600 Acres total and Im looking forward to scouting the places. I dont leave Tennessee until Sept 21st, but between work and sleep I will use every minute to find some stand locations.
