Well traditional gun season wrapped up here in Wisconsin last sunday and I got skunked.  It was a strange year.  Typically we hear lots of shooting around us and it was strangely quiet this year.  I don't know if a lot of hunters stayed home because of the econemy or there just weren't as many deer but deer sightngs were way down in our party this year.  Anyone else successful?

I'm not ready to surrender just yet however.  I am going to try and sneek out with my bow at least one more weekend for a late season hunt.

I've heard that same story from a lot of hunters this year.  The deer didn't seem to be moving.  Stats from the DNR regarding the harvest support this as well.  The number of dear taken this last season is down 20% from last year.  I don't know where that ranks on average, but that's the news I heard this morning.

I think I figured out why the deer count is so low this year.  These must be deer that grew up near Madison:

That's not going to help the gene pool!
