Well, Our season is a week old now, Big ducks have been spoty but the woodies and teal have been lighting the sky up!  We had a pretty good resident goose season  being that it was warm and dry...gotta love those young birds.

Things should be getting right with the cold fronts and new birds headed our way!n   Time to get busy

    Good luck Cut...
Be sure to share some pictures, especially when you get into some sea ducks.

Good news. The weather has been wierd around here and I haven't been seeing the large groups of ducks and geese come through. This past weekend was the first time that I saw large groups of geese moving around.

Like Chris said, post pics when you got 'em.

My favorite duck hole near the house is frozen solid. The ducks should be on their way south I would think!

It's amazing how little open water is needed to keep birds around. Most lakes and river backwaters are frozen stiff up here. Even the St. Croix is mostly covered with ice. But there is birds everywhere. The Kinnickinick stays open almost year around because it's spring fed. It's only about 10-15 feet wide but the birds hit it hard when everything else freezes up. It makes the hunting a bit easier because they get concentrated. As long as there is some open water, ducks stick around. It has more to do with snow cover than anything. When the fields get to the point where they can't get to the food, the mallards and geese hit the road.
