Guys, just to let you know, should you opt to try the Atlantic Flyway and choose Va. as a destination. Three guides I would highly recommend. Two are on the Eastern Shore of Va.  They are Andy Linton and Grayson Chesser. Andy has been guiding over 40 years and Grayson is as well known for his decoy carving as his guiding.   Both will give you a "day to remember". The third is new to the guiding world with 3 years under his belt. The boss of the outfit is Chad Adams and his  guide service is Webfoot Mafia. Webfoot now offers goose hunting with old school values in and around central Va. He as expanded the business to Ark. I've not hunted with Grayson but Andy or Chad "as good as they get"

Come on over, the huntin is fine!!!!

Do you have any web addresses or contact info for these guys? We would love to list them in our VA Duck Hunting Guides and Outfitters section.

Don't know if you would be interested but I have one for Maryland as well. I'd not recommend him if I had not used him and know he is "first class".   His name is Jeff Coats
www.ducksdogsanddecoys.com     He is the one to go to for "all your seaduckin needs"   He's great, I'm sure you have seen some of his pics.   cut

The more the better. We are trying to develop the most comprehensive listing of guides and outfitters on the net. We will make sure we get your guys listed.

Cut,

We posted your friends guide service.

You can view it here: Ducks, Dogs & Decoys

Feel free to leave feedback on your friend as well at the link above.

The VA guides should be up shortly as well.

Thanks again for your help!

I hope you all take  the time to view his website and maybe order a DVD or one of his current calendars.  While folks are "doing the shooting, he too is pulling the trigger, or shall I say clicking the shutter of that digital camera with a lens about as long as your gun barrel. If it's seaducking that turns you on, he's the one we turn too in our area.  He not only is a "good guide" but has helped with the design of that big old banks boat he guides out of as well and helping Avery design some of it's new line of decoys!  Talk about involved in the sport!

If you thought that was cool, just bring yourself on over to the Atlantic Flyway and we will get a first hand look at that canon of a camera Jeff uses... You just might make the next DVD

Most guys around these part favor the Lads.   But  the Chesapeake Bay Retrievers cut their teeth on the cold waters of the bay.

How do the labs hold up in the cold water? Is the water cold year round? Any one run GSP's for duck in the bay?

Guys, with a bit of long range planning, it would not be out of the question to "Do a Hunt".  Hope ya'll do plan to visit the Atlantic Flyway at some point.   We have a lot of Waterfowling History in our area.   And ,we few birds too, speaking of birds, I will definately be heading points west as you guys "HAVE THE BIRDS"

We don't have the winters we used to so the labs hold up ok, helps to have neo vest if it gets real cold.

Pretty easy to get into the ducks, just find where they are rafting up, run em up nd throw your long lines out. They will come back in small groups

Come on over and I'll show ya      Long lines are used on "big water" and are a easy way to set out lots of deks in a hurry.   It's pretty simple.  You have a cord called the mother line, starting at about 20 feet, a small dia. cord is attached about 2' long, with a snap, then about ever 6' another 2' cord with snap. Your deks will stay attached to the cords and you can have as many deks on a mother line as you wish. Normal lines are 2 to 3 doz. deks.   Around here we use a 4 or 5 lb. weights( attached to both ends) to hold the "long lines" in place.  Most will have the lines with deks ready to toss out and will run 3 or 4  long lines.  Two guys can set out a100 deks in a matter of mins. after they have done it a time or two.    Hope you undestand what I'm trying to say.... it's so clear in "MY head"  I'm sure their are a million ways to do the same thing, this is just "one way"

Wow, with my luck the decoys would all be in a huge knotted mess. I guess that's how you keep the decoys from floating away in deep or big water?

Folks tend to keep them in a big bag, deks on the outside and the line laying in the bottom in a circular motion or detach the deks from the snaps and wind the mother line up on a spool.  And you are right, it can make a mess ..in a hurry

Cut,  we added your friends to the VA Duck hunting page.  Don't forget to leave some feedback on them.  By the way, do you know any turkey guides or deer guides out your way?
