What is your favorite method to clean a pheasant?

I use the quick clean approach. While the bird is still warm I step on both legs close to the breast as I can and then pull on the thighes. This seperates the guts head and endtrails from the bird. Then I just clip the wings and pull off the stray feathers. Some guys keep the pheasant legs but unless I am making soup I think they are to tuff to do much with.

I used to do the quick cleaning method, but now I breast everything.  When I am hunting in Iowa, most of my friends there save the leg meat.  To me it's too much work for too little reward.

It must be something about those Iowa boys. Last time I was out there they also saved the gizzard and ate it. I'm all for conservation but that was to much for me.

Does this cleaning method apply t grouse as well? I have cleaned grouse and it sounds like a similar approach??

I usually just step on the wings for grouse. About all that is worth saving on a grouse is the breast.
