I though I would share a few photos with you guys.  My grandfather, a huge hunting fan, recently passed away and my dad found some of these old photos.  My grandfather lived in Winnebago, MN (Southern Minnesota) and every year he and many of the men in the town would head to northern Minnesota (Around the boundry waters area) were he and the guys would stay in a large tent for 14 days deer hunting.  When my fater was old enough he got to go a long as well.  Although I never got to go I've heard many stories over the years and am sure my love for hunting can be traced back to these trips.  I hope you enjoy the photos:

Thanks Grandpa and Dad, With out you I'm not sure I would hunt.

Those are great pics.  Thanks for sharing.

How many did they have hunting.  Judging by some of the photos, it looks like they must have had an army to get all those deer.  I also saw in one pic someone got a fox.

I am sure a 14 day stint in a army tent would create a bunch of memories. I would have loved ot be there. My dad has a deer on his wall from one of those trips that is in the Minnesota record book. 190 Class typical. The old taxidermy isn't anything like the new but it is still a very impressive mount.

Great photos. Those were the days. I would like to start a deer camp tradition with my boys as soon as they are old enough. Thanks for sharing the photos.

Hey Big Buck,

Thanks for sharing the photos, they are great. Although we don't tent it my dad and I haven't missed opening day of gun deer season since I was old enough to hunt. It is a tradition I hope to pass on to my boys when they are old enough.

Ditto to the comments. Big Buck's hunting liniage spreads out further than his own family ... a tent looks fun but sometimes a warm cabin & a big recliner does the trick to "recover" from a days hunt :-)
