Of course, it appears that guys like Ted Nugent and Michael Waddle are Pro hunters but in reality they are outdoor hosts promoting hunting, as well as outdoor writers such as myself and others. The last of the real prohunters were the buffalo hunters and market hunters who wiped out the buffalo and passenger pigions for example. They did a pretty good job on the Native Americans as well, all part of the plan. Now there are a few pro trappers and hunters for the state and federal government but very few. There are pro guides that take you hunting and you pay them to show you the game, and there are a few pro shooters that work for legal market hunting, but thats about it. Otherwise no one gets paid to shoot game. If they did the license fees would be a bit higher.

Steve, welcome to the forum. It is great to hear from a hunter in another part of our beautiful country. I had a chance to visit your city last year for a few days. Beautiful territory. I would be interested to hear if you've done any quail hunting around those parts? It's great to hear your family is involved in the sport we love too. Great luck with the new grandson. May both of them follow in your footsteps.

Howdy!   Name's Kris, but on gun forums I'm better known as 2fewdaysafield.

I hunt wherever and whenever I can. I have permission on 274 acres of woodland in Northwest Ct that I use to hunt deer, turkey, coyote and squirrel. There are a few farmers around here that will let me hunt woodchucks.

I travel to hunt as often as I can. In January I hunted pheasant in Oklahoma with a bunch of buddies from SGW. I'm heading to Tx in early September for Dove. From there I am heading to Wyoming to chase speed goats. October, November and December will see me chasing deer and squirrels here in Ct.  And in January I'll be heading back to Oklahoma.

I'm single and gave up chasing women when I realized all the ones I wanted to hit on were half my age!  So there is no one to tell me I should spend my time and money on anything but hunting!

Kris, welcome aboard. It's nice to see that you are taking a relaxed approach to hunting!

Continue to post away and it's good to hear your voice on the forum.

I kidnapped Kriss from the CZ-USA forum. I guess we will have to bring him to Louisiana and see if we cant get him eat up by the hawgs. That would be Louisiana women, he would never want to go home.

Now Uncle John.....Don't you be getting me in trouble with no women! 3 wives made my life a misery for over 30 years!  And I'm just finally starting to have some fun again! And the saltpeter doesn't taste bad .....at least not after a while!

I hunt all over Wisconsin and have dabbled in some mule deer action in Wyoming. I enjoy hunting pretty much all species but waterfowl hunting is my greatest love. Several circumstances kept me away from waterfowl hunting the last two seasons but I will be back at it this fall. We're less than 30 days from goose opener in Wisconsin!!!

Chris, I don't know what part of Cheese country your in, but if you're looking for a hunting partner I'd be happy to tag along. With that being said, I am a complete novice at goose/duck and would need more than a little help.

Hiya Pork,

I live in St. Croix County but I do most of my waterfowling in Eau Claire, Chippewa, and Clark County. We'll have to hook up some time this season.

That's my old stomping grounds. I grew up in Clark County and my wife's family and my sister still live there. We go back often to visit (this weekend in fact). I joined a game farm to fill my time while my wife has a hen clutch with her sisters. Drop me an email and let's hook up.
