I use a dominate buck scent during the pre rut.  I like to set up a mock scrape and use a drip bag or just freshen the scrape if I am hunting every day.  I'll try and set up a scrape within bow range of my stand.  I wrote a good article on this for Foremost Hunting called:  Scents For Deer Hunting.

I would love to hear what some of you other guys do for in regards to deer scents.

I carry a few different scents but my number one scent is doe pee. I always lay a dop or two down in my shooting lanes. It works 99% of the time to stop a walking deer. The thing I hate about scents is they get so messy. They seem to get all over my pack. I really like the new spray/ areosal can scents that are coming out on the market. The seem to be mess free. Any one had any luck with them?

The absolute best secents that I have ever used, and the best value are kishelscents.com.  Their scents are all fresh and never sit on the shelf past the expiration date like most in Walmart etc. After the expiration date, pee becomes pee whether human, coyote, or deer. Whatever you use has to be fresh. -Archer

I agree with Archer on this one.  Fresh is the key.  I forget the brand I buy but it is kept frozen at a specialty bow shop I frequent.  It is more expensive but seems to work great.  The cheep pees seem to sook the deer.  This fresh stuff gets a much better reaaction.  I don't know how to explain it but it works great.
